FIJI Part 3: the Mamanucas Islands & the Coral Coast // FIJI: isole Mamanucas e Coral coast

Well, it’s been difficult to plan the trip at times as the weather forecast was continually changing and I expect this is probably normal in the South Pacific area. Luckily it did not get too much in the way of relaxing and having fun. Finally the trip to the Mamanucas Islands, one of the 2 archipelagos not to miss, was scheduled for Wednesday. We’d tour the first islands and then stop on Mana Island, a long but narrow island with a resort and backpackers, where you have the luxury to choose which beach to go to. We went with South Sea cruises‎, most of the 1-day trips are valued at 200FJ$ or less, which is around 100AUD$, a bit less in €. It was a beautiful, sunny day and the show put in place by nature that day was simply to die for. Clear water, white, long sandy beaches, corals and palms… WELCOME TO MANA ISLAND! Our arrival accompanied by music…feeling like a star in the movies or too much of a tourist, you choose. …

FIJI Part 2: Sigatoka Sand Dunes // Le FIJI e le dune di sabbia

When I started looking over the internet which were Fiji  highlights, I read about the Sigatoka Sand Dunes. Before these sand dunes, looking back at the past, I’ve been to some in New Zealand and Australia, on Fraser Island, and probably to something similar in Europe, but not to the famous ones in France. We were offered to do the tour with a guide and we accepted in order to learn a bit more about the place. And that’s when Epeli took the scene. We started walking up the forest and meanwhile I was thinking that it had been a while since my last bushwalk. I’ve always been used to walk in the mountains and all-around since little, but it’s …

An unexpected trip to FIJI – Part 1 // Alla scoperta delle FIJI – Parte 1

An unexpected trip to Fiji that’s what happened to me. What is considered to be a luxury or honeymoon destination in italy is just so close to Australia, a 4 hour flight from Melbourne, and affordable, if you take advantage of flight bargains and book cheap accommodation through Booking.com or Wotif, for example. And that’s what I did with my friends! And you still get to go to the luxury resort beaches as the beach, in most countries outside Italy, is a public place. So you get the best without spending too much money. Our trip started with a bumpy and scary flight with Pacific Air, Qantas partner, due to the bad weather conditions, but we survived that and landed in Nadi. Not a good looking city, and even worse with the rain, but this gave us the chance to explore it a little bit more. We visited the Hindu temple, modern but very colourful, the craft market, where you need to bargain, the fruit & veggie market, where we discovered wonderful fruit, veggies, spices, …
