Tips on when to buy your next flight // Quando e’ meglio comprare un volo?

Sorry, I have been silent for a while, but I’ve been very busy tackling new frontiers 🙂 I have been reading though an article about buying patterns when booking a holiday. Things are changing and you’ll find interesting to read this article published on Expedia. You’ll find tips, for example, on when it’s the best day to book a flight. Wouldn’t it be nice to know? https://viewfinder.expedia.com/features/air-travel-trends-for-2016/ ———- //———- Scusate l’assenza, ma sono stata veramente presa, impegnata verso nuovi orizzonti. Comunque volevo condividere con voi un articolo che ho letto su Expedia qualche settimane fa’ che parlava del comportamento dei consumatori alla volta di acquistare i biglietti aerei, dove il prezzo diventa sempre piu’ importante. Ma no, davvero?! Scherzo, e’ sempre meglio che le sensazioni siano documentate! e’ interessante perche’ troverete interessanti spunti su quando, per esempio, acquistare i biglietti aerei. Non male, no? Buona lettura! …in inglese! https://viewfinder.expedia.com/features/air-travel-trends-for-2016/

Needing an Unconventional Xmas Gift Idea? Want to support a Special Project? “On the Glo” is the way to go!!! // State cercando un’idea regalo originale per Natale? Magari supportando un Progetto Speciale? Ecco la soluzione: “On the Glo”!!!

Well, how did I find about the “On The Glo” Project? As most times, through a dear friend. We were catching up after a while, since I moved to Australia. When you’re far away you’re more prone to tell about yourself, your dreams, your projects, and so on. And so I did share with Titti my interest and passion towards jewellery and the desire of keeping this passion alive and maybe creating something in the future. The entrepreneurship theme seems to be a pretty trendy topic lately, although I’ve known it all my life somehow, unconsciously or not, since I was a kid, but had to go through a lot of amazing, exciting and interesting experiences before understanding my motivation, interests, etc… in short myself more deeply. And that’s when Titti told me about “On the Glo”, her sister’s project. So here’s my interview to uncover this fantastic Project! It’s a useful thing, it’s a fashionable thing, that keeps you safer and also an unconventional Xmas gift idea for you! You really need to read …

#Expovina Zürich: wine, #wine and more wine! // Expovina Zurigo: vino, vino e ancora vino!

Some Aussie friends, that I met recently, were talking about going to a wine festival on boats on lake Zurich. In my head I thought: ” what an interesting way of letting people taste and enjoy wine. Of course, the lake better be calm if you are usually sea-sick or, in this case, lake-sick! ;)” A week later I received the invitation to go together. I was trying to understand how long would this wine cruise take until I actually found out that the 12 or more boats at the Expovina were actually anchored at port ahah What a big laugh! The entrance is 25chf, and you usually better have cash, which could sound expensive. But since companies participating are actually distributors and you pay such a fee, you actually get to taste a lot of wine. Some just pour up to 1/4-1/3 of a glass. So definitely a fun activity, especially when you have to climb the different boats stairs 😉 So I’d suggest to have a hearty meal, or even a hot dog …

What does Autumn smell like? // Di cosa profuma l’autunno?

Smells, good ones, are as important as other senses attributes and most of the times can make memories even more intense and pleasant. It’s hard to describe them with words and in fact I thought it was impossible, but actually I did it when I described the smell of gumtree. And I think I did a decent job. If you want, Here’s the link to this post: http://wp.me/p2LzYl-C1 This time I’ll try to briefly describe the smell of Autumn, although it’s somehow more difficult because it’s not a single plant with a distinctive smell. Autumn can be relatively warm or relatively cold, depending on the month, and probably that’s also one of the beauties of this season.    When it’s warm the smell of the environment, of the nature sorrounding you is “enveloping”, it is kind of sweet but with a hint of “sour” at the end. Then you smell the trees “changing their clothes”, the leaves on the ground and still you feel and smell, through colourful notes in the air, its positive energy. …

Our last day in Melbourne and Australia // Il nostro ultimo giorno a Melbourne e in Australia

And here we are: our last day in Melbourne and in Australia. Actually this happened a few months ago, but I did not have the time to write about it, maybe I wasn’t ready and thought the last paragraph about the airport was too much. But then I thought, why not sharing it anyway? In the end we’ve been lucky and it’s normal to be happy about it, right? A strange feeling, as if nothing was going to happen. And in fact not much happened that day apart from the fact that we were going to leave the country. And probably, after a relaxed breakfast and a last stroll in the CBD, it’s been much about cleaning the apartment (the never ending story) and getting rid of every single little item that we accumulated in these 3 years. And I mean it! The apartment needed to be emptied completely not to incur in charges, thanks to our friends Carla and Lluis for letting us know (e.g. A soap near the sink is seen as not …

Dove si trova il paradiso della carta a Melbourne // Where’s the Paper (art & craft) paradise in Melbourne?

A lazy Sunday and hot morning in Melbourne, went out to get a couple of things done and indulged in visiting a shop I longed visiting for a while: Paperpoint. Well, I started exploring what was on the shelves and from the start I got positively overwhelmed by the colours and textures that were all around, let alone all the cute Xmas decorations, little puppets and little things all over the shop. I was in heaven. It was about just about joy! the little neurons or people that are in my head, just started running and jumping around, happy! A new idea after the other came out of all the things that Paperpoint was selling. Well, you’ll know I bought half of the shop and luckily it was lunch time and /i had to go home, otherwise it would have a been a much worse “economic disaster”! 🙂 It made me feel excited like when I used to spend hours at “Il Paradiso della carta‘ (The Paper paradise) in Milan or at ‘L’antica Cartoleria Novecento” …

My ‘Aussie’, but multicultural haircut // Il mio taglio ‘australiano, ma multiculturale

🙂 p.s. Perche’ australiano, ma multiculturale? Leggete il mio posto precedente http://wp.me/p2LzYl-Hr ———- // ———- I decided to win over shy and “who cares about your haircut?” and poublish actually 2 photos. As I was mentioning, most people won’t really give a damn about it, but as someone asked me about it, why not? We’re in the ‘selfie’, instagram, fb era, …

10 first words I learnt in Australian slang // Le prime 10 parole che ho imparato in “australiano”

Finally after a long time I put together the list of the first 10 words of ‘Australian’ I learnt when I arrived in Melbourne. Yes because in Australia they speak a totally different language! J Come and read for yourself the first words I came across in the land Downunder. ARVO – short for ‘afternoon’, although I don’t particularly like the sound of this word AUSSIE – short for ‘Australian’ BARBIE – short for ‘barbeque’, essential word if you want to live and survive in Australia. You’ll attend and/or organise hundreds of them, it’s like the Italian Aperitivo, almost a National sport 😉 BREKKIE – short for ‘breakfast’, another important part of the day. You can’t start the day without ‘a good brekkie’, which often involves ‘Vegemite’. CHRISSIE – short for ‘Christmas’, a word we learnt after just 4 months of our arrival to Melbourne, since we spent here our first Xmas and we’re going to spend here the next. FOOTY – short for ‘football’, but the Australian one. Nobody living in Melbourne can afford …

POSITIVE MONDAY ! – Do you need some extra motivation to do something healthy? // Bisogno di una spinta in piu’ per muoversi e mangiare bene?

Eating well and doing sports should be part of our daily routine and it’s up to us to keep it up, but as we all know, it’s not always easy. Millions of things come up or we are just lazy or just the day you decided to go to the gym your mate invites you to grab a beer or whatever. I’m though firmly convinced that involving others really helps, as doing some activity together or sharing healthy recipes, own goals or achievements! It helps even more when an Insurance company, Medibank, launches an advertising campaign “Generation Better” (or #GenBetter) aimed to help you lead a healthy life, by sharing tips, yummy healthy recipes or just motivating you to go out there and do something: “Give it a go”. It also tells you nobody expects you to be a champion on your first day and not to worry about it, but to try to keep doing it , step by step, as long as you like it. It motivates you even more when by sharing …
