3 days to visit Kangaroo Island, a Honeymoon destination for Italians, not explored as much as it deserved by Aussies

For example, from Melbourne take a flight to Adelaide, then rent a car and drive until Cape Jervis, roughly 1 hour and 40 minutes, so if you are arriving on Friday night, you might want to think of spending the night somewhere halfway or close to Cape Jervis. 40 minutes on the ferry and you’ll reach Penneshaw, one of the little town on the Island. Here, before starting your visit through the third biggest island of Australia, you can stop for coffee & cake or a quick lunch at Ultima tule Cafe’. Kangaroo Island is simply beautiful: three days is the minimum stay to have a taste of its nature, wilderness and peaceful life. But if you have more time you can stay all week to appreciate its people, environment and culture. The people who live here are mostly farmers and fishermen, but there are also some artists. What to do on a weekend around Adelaide?

Barossa Valley, well, this place brings me back to my study exchange experience at Macquarie University many years ago. You’ll know about it, if you read some of my previous posts. During the Easter Break I did this trip from Sydney to Melbourne (by bus, yes, 13 hours) and then a tour of the Great Ocean Road, a sort of hop on hop off, till Adelaide. There we then decided to spend 3 beautiful days wandering around Barossa Valley and sleeping in the vineyards. All this with my friends from Austria and Germany, Kathrin and Brit. I guess an Italian was needed for diplomacy reasons 😉 Well, a couple of weeks ago I went back with my husband. A trip down memory lane. We landed at Adelaide airport, that is now partially renovated, then with a hired car, we left our luggage at our accommodation, Tiffin’s Hotel, booked through Booking.com Actually nothing special, but quite a good price for being a hotel close to the CBD.
