What’s it like to live in Melbourne? Blog of the month on Expat Blog // Com’e’ vivere a Melbourne?

A few months ago I was asked by Francesca of Expat Blog to tell about my experience as an expat in Australia. I decided to accept because I’m firmly convinced that sharing one’s own experience abroad, as reading someone else’s, helps living ones own. The Expat Blog website, available in different languages, has …

POSITIVE MONDAY! What is it about? An inspirational video – #GenBetter // In fondo di cosa si tratta? #GenBetter

It’s been a while since the last time I wrote, but I really wanted to share this inspirational video featuring Rod Laver, the greatest Australian Tennis Champion, who holds the record for most singles titles won in the history of tennis, with 200 career titles (Source: Wikipedia). By the way, the main tennis arena in Melbourne, where the Australian Open are played, is named after him. It inspires all Australian to get better, to get moving, to do something or as the ad says: “It’s not about expensive gear …or being No. 1…It’s just about getting out there and having a go, do something…encouraging every Australian to have a go, all part of Generation Better #GenBetter Eventhough it’s a Medibank commercial, just absolutely watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CksvfeLJ8-8 See here other #GenBetter TV commercials: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=%20%23GenBetter%20&sm=12 ——— // ——— Dopo qualche settimana di silenzio, volevo proporvi questo video che secondo me ispira a fare, a muoversi, e soprattutto rida’ il buonumore! Per chi non lo sapesse l’”attore” della pubblicita’ e’ Rod Laver Arena, il piu’ grande campione …

‘Dumb Ways to die’ campaign PR winner at Cannes

Dumb Ways to die – HelmetDo you remember the funny campaign, cartoon-like, that I wrote about a couple of months ago about SAfety & trains in Victoria and Melbourne? Here you can refresh your memory as part of one my posts here: https://lavaleandherworld.wordpress.com/2013/05/02/just-an-incredible-ad-to-watch-dumb-ways-to-die-una-pubblicita-da-non-perdere-dumb-ways-to-die/ Well, a friend just told me that the Victoria Metro Train campaign ‘Dumb ways to die‘ just won the Grand Prix in PR at Cannes. Just an incredible Ad to watch: “Dumb Ways To Die” / Una pubblicità da non perdere: “Dumb Ways to Die”

It’s been quite some time that I wanted to write about this. As soon as I saw this ad on YouTube, “Dumb Ways To Die”, I knew it would be a success. It’s Melbourne’s Metro Trains‘s rail safety public service campaign that explains in a very simple way what people should not be doing, especially around trains. The ad shows the silliest ways of dying, that apparently still occur, in a very friendly and incisive way despite the extremely serious content. On top of the normal billboard campaign, the campaign went viral and it has won seven Webby Awards. Here you can read some more details on the article on The Age: http://www.theage.com.au/victoria/melbourne-rail-safety-message-wins-webby-20130501-2isyl.html But the thing you really cannot afford not to watch it is the actual ad: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJNR2EpS0jw ——— // ——— Era un po’ di tempo che ne volevo parlare. Appena ho visto questa campagna “Dumb Ways To Die” (10 modi di morire), mi è subito piaciuta! E ho sinceramente sospettato che sarebbe stata notata e avrebbe ricevuto in qualche modo un riconoscimento. Si …
